Babysitting adventures!November 09, 2011
I really want a tablet, and with my weekly allowance for chores, I’m never going to save up enough. So I asked my mom what else I could do and she said, “Well, at your age, I started babysitting. I don’t see why you couldn’t start that now.” I’m so psyched!
She said I have to take a class first so I know what to do in emergencies and stuff. I understand why, because I want to make sure I can actually help if something happens. In the class I’ll learn basic first aid stuff, and I’ll also learn a little bit about kids and what toys and foods they can have and still be safe.
I’m so excited! Tablet here I come!
Peace out guys!
Fall back!November 07, 2011
I hope everyone gets used to Daylight Savings time soon! I like the fall better than the spring because we gain an hour of sleep: fall back, spring forward! It’s much easier to get used to having an extra hour than it is to losing one.
Mostly, Daylight Savings time only takes place in the United States, Canada and Europe. It started a looooooooooong time ago! The idea was that it would save energy and electricity if people were awake when the sun was up and asleep when the sun was down. But now that we all have so many lights in our houses it doesn’t really matter if we’re awake when the sun is up or not.
Oh well. I’ll never complain about an extra hour of sleep!
Pumpkin seeds!November 02, 2011
So even though Halloween is over there are still pumpkins around my house. My mom makes yummy pumpkin pies for friends and family at this time of year, and she uses REAL pumpkins! That means more baked pumpkin seeds for me!
Have you ever made baked pumpkin seeds? They’re super easy and a really great snack! Just rinse them in a strainer and lay them out in one layer on a baking sheet that you’ve sprayed with oil, that way they won’t stick. Sprinkle some salt and bake them until they’re crunchy! Ask a grownup to help you. I think you’ll love this easy snack!
